The journey

From Western to medicine.

Mary Elizabeth Nguyen is a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in London, Ontario. Her path combined a strong academic foundation at Western with clinical exposure at the University Health Network in Toronto.

She has also contributed to published research. She co-authored a case report in the BMJ, “Elevations in serum lithium levels postcystectomy and ileal conduit”, on postoperative changes in lithium levels and the monitoring they require after major urological surgery.

“I cannot stress enough how important it was for me to have Omar in my corner. Not only did his extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of MMI and Canadian medical school interview frameworks drastically improve my interview performance, but his faith and kindness made me unshakeably confident. This, I know, was an integral part of my success.”Mary Elizabeth NguyenMedicine · Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry
With MMI Made Easy

How you think, not what you know.

For Mary, the MMI was not a test of what she knew. It asked how she thinks, how she communicates, how she responds to an ethical situation and to an unfamiliar human interaction.

With Dr. Omar Benidir the work went beyond practising questions: thinking clearly under pressure, structuring a response, communicating with confidence, and showing the qualities expected of a future physician without relying on memorized answers.
